Let Justice Reign

Habakkuk 2:“Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.3 For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay. 4 “See, the enemy is puffed up; his desires are not upright— but the righteous person will live by his faithfulness

Some time back I began to think about what God is doing in the earth. The question sprung up from the idea about how Jesus said and did things.

First we understand that Jesus only told His disciples what He heard the Father say; (He said what He heard)

John 12:50 “. . . . So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.”

If we are to emulate Jesus in this aspect we need to cultivate our ability to hear His voice along with the discipline to limit our speaking to what He tells us to. This means that I am welcome to share my opinions as long as I heard them from Him.

In addition Jesus said that He only did what He saw His Father doing; (He did what He saw)

John 5:19 Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. 20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed.

If we are to emulate Jesus in this we must cultivate our ability to see what He is doing. If we put those two together we seek to say what we hear Him saying and do what we’ve seen Him doing.

So we come back to the question, “What is God doing on the earth?” More specifically “What is God doing in the United States?” If we can find the answer to this it will inform our “doing” as well. When we see what He is doing it emboldens us to start doing the same things. Without this insight the church for the most part remains sidelined and hesitant when we are called to be bold and involved.

Let’s examine what we believe we’ve have heard God saying and what we’ve seen God doing in the United States over the past few years.

What God has been saying

Many who have been listening to what the Lord is saying have come to understand that He has been speaking for some years about His justice. Justice has been on the agenda for awhile as the Spirit of God has been blowing across the world and the US to bring forth His justice, which is the only kind of justice that is perfect. The sheer weight of the prophetic voices on this is staggering but let me show you just 5 snippets of many available from recent words.

Justice continues as a major theme, as it has been the last few years, but it now gets to the next level of progressive intensity. The theme of justice will roar in our nation and then around the world as our God's heart for the used and abused is made evident before all. Justice is not the opposite of mercy, but rather justice is God's mercy on the abused and downtrodden. It is when a line is drawn in the sand against evildoers where there is no more mercy for them apart from wholesale repentance. The execution of this kind of public justice causes hope to ignite and rage against all doubt, unbelief and limited thinking. Raging hope will burn up disappointment and delay, and it will secure a heart in a big, good, and present God.

As My justice is poured out, injustices are overturned, chains are broken, breakthrough is seen and recompense flows. I will expose hidden agendas that are not in line with My heart and My ways and I will expose injustices like never before. This is the era for divine intervention and intervention will come on the release of My justice."

"And will not God give justice to His elect, who cry to Him day and night? Will He delay long over them? I tell you, He will give justice to them speedily..." (Luke 18:7-8 ESV)

"Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before You." (Psalm 89:14 ESV)

The Lord is coming and standing in the injustice; He is laughing at the injustice! His laugh is a laugh of victory. I could feel the Lord's compassion and love for His people in the injustice and pain they had walked through, but at the same time, His laugh was SO LOUD that it filled me with joy. In His laughing He declared, "The enemy thought he could stop you and steal from you in this injustice, but I am bringing you into a land of harvest unlike anything you have never known. I am moving powerfully in your midst, now, to bring forth the greatest overturning of injustice in your life. I am releasing My justice over the injustice that was caused to you and I am bringing forth a TENFOLD RESTORATION and a DOUBLE PORTION of JOY! I am establishing My government in your midst and you will now be set free from the shackles of this injustice; you will RUN into all I have for you and know joy like you have never seen before."His voice continued to surround me as He said, "I am turning the page on injustice.” I then saw a very large book in Heaven and the page was being turned. On the new page was the gavel of the Lord and the strategies of the Lord to bring forth His justice upon the earth.

The Spirit of God says 2020 was the year of justice but 2021 will be a new year for justice. It will not be a false or perverted justice, but it will be  justice that will move the needle of my kingdom forward in the earth, for there will be those still who would pervert my justice. In 2020 many burnt down statues made in the image of political men but in 2021 they will burn down political men. None will ask for my justice but I will raise my hand to bring it swiftly says the Lord.

Michelle (my wife) and I similarly have heard the Lord speaking about justice for some time. on January 9 2018 I believe the Lord spoke to me to begin to keep journals about His justice as He wanted to begin to speak to me about it.

I am the God of justice, it flourishes around me, it finds its meaning in my presence, Justice not secured in my Presence soon becomes unjust because it cannot sustain balance, the only true justice is sourced in Me. Systems and conventions towards justice are only ever at best temporary improvements and adjustments to what was unjust, but who can gauge, who can know, who can savor and taste the various elements that go into discovering perfect justice, that’s why my word says that those who seek me will understand justice fully, (Proverbs 28:5 NKJV Evil men do not understand justice, But those who seek the Lord understand all.) it is only here with me that justice dwells and then it will be found among those who seek me diligently and who labor to rest in me. . . . see this day I am enrolling you both in my school of transformation, instructions in wisdom for leaders, justice issues, the justice of heaven, the call to holiness which is what enables people to see me and exalts nations, these are some of the lessons I want to teach you and for which you must keep journals.

Recently the Lord spoke to Michelle out of Ezekiel about His desire to tear down whitewashed walls that hide injustice in the foundations. There are many hastily erected and quickly whitewashed walls that seek to hide injustice beneath but the wind of God’s Holy Spirit is blowing these down to expose the injustice beneath that He is committed to uprooting.

Ezekiel 13:13 “‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: In my wrath I will unleash a violent wind, and in my anger hailstones and torrents of rain will fall with destructive fury. 14 I will tear down the wall you have covered with whitewash and will level it to the ground so that its foundation will be laid bare.

This “destructive wind” is not a destroyer at all but the great physician of nations exposing foundational injustice and seeking to lance the boil so that healing can come. Of course this is uncomfortable to see, it looks like destruction and it shows up what is rotten underneath.

Almost all of us will find this process uncomfortable, unsettling and provocative - seeing injustice revealed with stark clarity. It comes with the temptation to quickly rebuild a flimsy wall and cover it with whitewash and to cry out “nothing to see here”.

Those with a discernment know that this is a great forward momentum and advancement of God’s kingdom. The big beautiful truth is that God wants to set His glory on the US. He wants to bring another great awakening the likes of which we’ve never seen. Oh to be sure, we have seen moves of God, but for His throne to be established and His presiding glory to be seated in a nation, requires righteousness and justice to be built in to our foundation. For righteousness and justice are the foundations of His throne and also to any other viable and acceptable form of government. These winds of justice prophesy of what is to come and are the source of great rejoicing to those who understand what they are the harbingers of. Decades of glory and manifested kingdom are planned for us which are best housed on a bed of justice.

Winds of the Holy Spirit to expose injustice have been blowing for some years now. While His extensive and constant exposure of these injustices has been going on it is often only formally recognized by the majority of citizens when it is demonstrated through a high profile specific set of circumstances. This means that what Holy Spirit started is often only seen by the general public when a media outlet, a celebrity, our justice system or a political party takes ownership of the story. Thus His pure exposure of injustice becomes marred and diminished through the human vessels who take it on, sometimes they pursue it with the purest intentions and a burden to right injustices, sometimes the exposure is used as a tool for manipulation and a mechanism for control of the population towards selfish ends.

These winds that expose injustice will not cease until as a society we have acknowledged and uprooted these injustices which have been allowed for years among us. No longer is it acceptable to be merely not complicit with child-murder, child-trafficking, misogyny, racism, unjust politicians and bias in courtrooms. We need to be actively anti each of these injustices.

Justice for children

God’s passion for “these little ones” and His anger against injustices to children is on display. He has been exposing violence against children, child sex-trafficking, child labor trafficking and pedophilia. It is an ugly reality that numerous attempts are being made to legitimize pedophilia in recent days. Children depend on their parents for love, direction, safety and resources and remain vulnerable through this dependance on adults and should be protected by our laws. The average age a teen enters the sex trade in the US is 12 to 14 years old. Many victims are runaway girls who were sexually abused as children.  Reports indicate that a large number of child sex trafficking survivors in the US were at one time in the foster care system. The large majority of these young women are African-American.

Our prayers and deliberate efforts must be towards fostering healthy families. This means that the nuclear family of a husband and wife in covenant with one another as is laid out clearly in the scriptures is as vital in these days as ever to the health of our society. God’s pattern for health and wholeness. Violation of God’s pattern for health and wholeness in marriages and families always results in destruction.

God’s blowing down the whitewashed walls and exposing these kinds of injustices towards children was most clearly portrayed in the arrest on pedophilia charges and subsequent death in jail of Jeffrey Epstein and the ongoing legal case against his associate Ghislaine Maxwell.

Many others who thought that the years of anonymity would never end and that God did not see their sin, are over. A great prayer for the exposure of trafficking rings, the repentance of perpetrators and healing for the victims has been heard on high. Pray that this exposure continues until the Lord has pulled this injustice out at the root.

Justice for women

Tarana Burke, an activist coined a phrase “me too” in 2006 — which lay semi-dormant until the overwhelming avalanche of women’s voices found direction under the MeToo movement and forced a conversation about the intersection of gender and power. Women’s painful experiences with sexism, sexual harassment and sexual assault caused significant changes in this arena.

Around 417 high-profile executives have been accused, 410 of these were men.  193 have resigned or been fired, 122 suspended, and 69 haven’t been impacted. The height of the impact came with the charging of Harvey Weinstein. On July 26, 2018: An article in The Atlantic determines that claims of sexual misconduct have ended 25 political campaigns in 2018 across both Democratic and Republican party lines.

Some key figures like Roger Ailes, Fox News head, was forced to resign because of allegations of sexual harassment brought by Gretchen Carlson which set off a stream of similar allegations. Uber co-founder and CEO Travis Kalanick and 20 other employees Uber were fired because of the essays of Susan Fowler. Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein fired from his company among charges of numerous women.  U.S.A. gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar sentenced to 40-175 years in prison for sexual abuse of more than 150 young women. The list goes on an is too numerous for this essay to cover but it consists of a long line of senators, comedians, media moguls, Hollywood celebrities, judges and citizens.

God’s winds of justice have made great strides towards uprooting this injustice in our society.

Justice for racial inequity

On February 26, 2012 Trayvon Martin was killed by George Zimmerman. George Zimmerman was later acquitted of the charges of murder or manslaughter which led to a national debate over racial profiling and the role of armed neighborhood watch members. It also led to substantial unrest and national protest.

In 2013, three radical Black organizers — Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi — created a Black-centered political will and movement building project called #BlackLivesMatter. It was in response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer, George Zimmerman. (3)

On Aug. 14 and 20, 2016, in preseason games in which he was not in uniform Colin Kaepernick remained seated on the bench during the national anthem. On Aug. 26 this was noticed and Kaepernick addressed his protest to members of the media for the first time, saying: “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football, and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.” (4) His protests provoked furious national debate.

On February 23, 2020, Ahmaud Arbery, an unarmed 25-year-old African-American man, was fatally shot while jogging in Glynn County, Georgia by by three white residents who had pursued him. All three men have subsequently been indicted on nine counts, including felony murder.[5]

On March 13, Louisville police officers serving a no-knock search warrant for drug suspicions knocked down the apartment door of 26-year-old Breonna Taylor. Police fired several shots during the encounter which led to her death. (6)

On May 25, Christian Cooper, a black bird-watcher at New York's Central Park experienced a confrontation with a white woman after he asked her to put her dog on a leash in the Ramble, a no-dogs-off-leash area. The interaction escalated when the white woman called the police to say that an African American man was threatening her. The woman was fired from her job and charged with falsely reporting an incident in the third degree. by the Manhattan District Attorney's office. (7)

At the end of May, more than 450 protests were held in cities and towns across the United States and in many other countries.The height of this unrest came primarily due to the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin,(8). Chauvin was charged with second degree murder after a video circulated showing him kneeling on Floyd's neck for nearly nine minutes while Floyd pleaded for his life, repeating, "I can't breathe."[9] Following protesters' demands for additional prosecutions, aiding and abetting second degree murder charges were added for three other officers[10]

Despite the incredibly politicized nature of each of these events, and the obvious skewing of the issues toward personal or political gain, I believe we must not lose sight of the fact that by these and other events the Spirit of God was instigating the blowing down walls to expose foundational injustices.

These issues deserve a close scrutiny and open discussion to ensure that we are living up to  what we say in the ‘Pledge of Allegiance’, that we commit our lives to the pursuit of “liberty and justice for all. Our 'Declaration of Independence’ similarly promises "We hold these truths to be self-evident: That all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness..."

The winds for justice continue to blow and expose injustice within our society. Injustice in business, banking, news outlets, social media platform, politicians and political parties, celebrities, church leaders and citizens are all obvious, in an unprecedented display of the revelation of what was in secret now made visible. Let those who have eyes to see, see.
