THANKSGIVING
Growing up in South Africa, Thanksgiving was not a holiday we celebrated. In the world we live in, where families are often separated by a border and even an ocean, I marvel each year at the intentionality to come together, share a traditional and delicious meal and give thanks around the table. I wish every nation had a similar tradition woven into their culture.
Giving thanks is such a high value to the Lord that we are told in scripture to “ enter His gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise” ( Psalm 100:4 )
Thanksgiving gives us easy access to enjoy His Presence. I believe when we make it a discipline to give thanks, our perspective changes and we see how good God is and all that He has done for us.
The apostle Paul tells us to bring our prayers and petitions to the Lord accompanied by thanksgiving. There will certainly be times in our lives where it might seem difficult to give thanks and yet this is when we bring a sacrifice of thanksgiving.
As we prepare and enjoy family and feast this week, let’s take time to give thanks to our beautiful Savior for all his goodness and great love for us.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
